A future full of possibilities for Venance

This post is also available in: Dutch German Swahili

Venance is the second oldest in a family of four children. Due to his intellectual disability, he struggled with learning, communication, social interaction, and functioning independently. Although he attended special education at a local school in a nearby village, his opportunities remained limited. He faced exclusion and discrimination and spent a period at home because his family could not find a suitable place where he could further develop.

In 2019, at the age of 16, Venance began Sibusiso’s 6-Month Program. Through social skills training, vocational training, sports, and work experience, his self-confidence grew. Step by step, he developed new skills and became more independent.

In 2025, we offered Venance a job at Sibusiso. He assists with garden maintenance and keeping the grounds clean. He has since become a valued colleague and uses his income to contribute to his siblings’ school fees and the family’s daily expenses. Additionally, Venance is building his own three-bedroom house. This is a very special milestone for him, demonstrating how much he has achieved and how he continues to build his future.

Venance says: “I am happy that I came to Sibusiso. I learned how to work, take care of myself, and do things independently. Now I have a job and I can help my family. I am very proud that I can also build my own house. I thank the people at Sibusiso for teaching me, supporting me, and believing in me.”

Sponsor the Sibusiso truck

For many families with a child with a disability, traveling to the center is either too difficult or too costly. This is why we reach out to the community with a mobile clinic. To carry out these activities, we need an additional truck. Will you join us?

Creating new opportunities with 15 chickens

Kibo Poultry donates chickens to Sibusiso. For families, this allows them to start a small-scale poultry farm and work toward generating their own income.

The programs
