Sibusiso chooses inclusion and strong communities

We are proud of the Strategic Plan 2026-2030, which the management team developed in close consultation with the board of the Sibusiso Foundation in Arusha.

The Sibusiso Foundation Strategic Plan (2026–2030) marks an important new phase in Sibusiso’s work. The organization is shifting from a primarily center-based approach to a hybrid model in which high-quality rehabilitation care is combined with Community-Based Inclusive Development (CBID) to strengthen and secure the long-term position of children and young people with developmental disabilities within the (local) community. This gives children and young people with developmental disabilities, along with their families and communities, a more active role.

In the next five years, Sibusiso will strengthen the center as a knowledge and training hub and a place that refers children to the appropriate form of care or support, while expanding inclusive rehabilitation services within the community. The focus of the Strategic Plan lies on ensuring equal rights, local collaboration, strengthening families, and breaking down stigma and exclusion. With this plan, Sibusiso aims to contribute to an inclusive society in which every child and young person can participate fully. You can find a summary of the Strategic Plan here.

Child comes to the center once a month. Tailored therapy: physiotherapy, nutrition. Personal plan. Then continue at home via outreach.
Seven weeks full of development. Young children learn to eat, move and communicate. Mothers learn too. This is followed by home guidance via outreach.
Children and young adults with disabilities learn practical, social, and academic skills within 6 months for an independent future.
The Outreach Team provides home therapy, advice, assistive devices, and breaks down taboos, ensuring children with disabilities receive more opportunities and acceptance.
In the center, carpenters and physiotherapists custom-make assistive devices such as wheelchairs and chairs, improving children’s therapy and mobility.
Sibusiso shares knowledge through theme days, sports, play and celebrations. Families, care providers and governments learn and celebrate together with the children.
Sibusiso shares 25 years of knowledge through a new knowledge center with training and education to increase understanding and acceptance of children with disabilities.
